Welcome to the HORIZONS Programme

HORIZONS is a large study of over 3000 people across the UK who had a diagnosis of cancer (young women with breast cancer, people with Non Hodgkin lymphoma, women with gynaecological cancers) between September 2016 and May 2019. Participants completed questionnaires before starting their primary cancer treatment and were followed over time to explore changes to their health and wellbeing.

We are interested in how a diagnosis of cancer and its treatment affects a person’s life over time. The aim is to understand what is important to people with cancer during their treatment and in the months and years afterwards.

HORIZONS is a unique and comprehensive dataset that captures health-related outcomes, experiences and clinical data. Our participants are a real-world representative group of people, recruited from 110 hospitals across the UK.

Information from HORIZONS will help inform support services in the future. HORIZONS data are available to researchers through a managed data sharing process.
