We encourage and facilitate use of the HORIZONS data by academic, charity and commercial partners. We do this through a managed access process, with a fee to cover administration and maintenance costs.
The measures that are available in the dataset are detailed here
There is detailed information below about how to access the data and about reporting requirements during the study.
Accessing the data
- Step 1: Read our data access policy and our cost document.
- Step 2: Select data from the HORIZONS data set.
- Step 3: Complete our research proposal form, detailing the research you wish to conduct. Include with this form the appropriate contents list(s) indicating which variables you wish to access.
- Step 4: email the two forms to CentricDataRequest@soton.ac.uk
- Step 5: the proposal will be viewed initially by one of the Directors who will give initial approval for the proposal to move to the review stage. You should receive an email within two weeks to confirm approval at this level and to confirm cost (details of costing can be found here).
- Step 6: the proposal then moves on to review by the CentRIC Data Sharing Panel. You should receive an email within four weeks with the outcome. At this stage, an access fee request and the Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) will be sent to you. You will also be advised of the University of Southampton author you will work with on the project.
- Step 7: Apply for Ethics approval locally for secondary data analysis. After completion please email the approval to CentricDataRequest@soton.ac.uk
- Step 8: Following payment of the fee and receipt of the DSA and Ethics approval, arrangements will be made for delivery of the data. This will be via the University of Southampton secure drop off system.
